Everyone in Canada has so much to be thankful for. From family and friends to a long weekend and great food it is a wonderful time of year. Thanksgiving is often celebrated with a feast showing off the bounty of the harvest. Canadian farmers work had to produce the food that you and your family enjoy every day! I want to thank the farmers who work so hard every day to produce local food that their families, and ours can enjoy. I have highlighted some recipes below that contain pork (of course) but that also highlight produce that is in season right now all over Canada. Remember to buy local and support your local economy.

Using a food processor makes this recipe quick and tasty! With the combination of amazing flavours such as bacon, garlic, and butter even the “brussel-haters” will be asking for seconds of this side.

Martha Stewart- Sausage-Stuffed Red Onions

I am not a huge onion fan, but this recipe is delightfully delicious, plus the red onion adds a great pop of colour to your festive meal.

Martha Stewart- Cornbread, Bacon, Leek, and Pecan Stuffing

Everyone’s favorite is always stuffing! I’m never one for messing with a good thing, but this recipe includes bacon, leeks, herbs, and pecans. In other words, everything good in one recipe!

Take the time this holiday weekend to enjoy these delicious sides along with family and friends. In all of the chaos remember to slow down and reflect on all that you have in your life to be thankful for.
